A School Born Out of Purpose
SDA Victorious Nursery and Primary School in Kalangala was established in 2014 by Evangelist Kulaaba Fredrick out of a deep desire to provide children in this island community with access to quality education grounded in strong moral and spiritual values. In an area where access to formal schooling is often limited by geography, economic hardship, and inadequate infrastructure, the school emerged as a beacon of hope for families seeking a better future for their children.
The founders envisioned a learning environment where children would not only gain academic knowledge but also grow in discipline, character, and faith. What began as a small initiative has gradually grown into a vital community institution, serving children who would otherwise struggle to access consistent education.
Growing with the Community
Today, the school serves a growing number of learners from nursery through primary five. Despite limited resources, dedicated teachers continue to provide instruction, mentorship, and care to the pupils. The teaching staff, though small in number, remain committed to ensuring that every child receives attention and guidance.
Enrollment has steadily increased as more parents recognize the value of education and the role the school plays in shaping their children’s future. However, this growth has also placed additional pressure on the already limited facilities and staff capacity.
Facing Real Challenges
While the school has made commendable progress, it continues to face significant challenges that hinder its full potential.
One of the most pressing needs is the lack of a proper dormitory. Many learners come from distant parts of the island, making daily travel difficult and, at times, unsafe. Without a dormitory, children are forced to endure long journeys or inconsistent attendance, which affects their academic performance and overall well-being.

In addition, the existing classroom structures are inadequate to accommodate the growing number of pupils. Some classes are overcrowded, while others are conducted in temporary or substandard spaces that are not conducive to effective learning. Limited infrastructure also restricts the school’s ability to expand and provide a more structured learning environment.
A Call for Support
Despite these challenges, SDA Victorious Nursery and Primary School remains a symbol of resilience and hope in Kalangala. With the right support, the school has the potential to transform the lives of many more children by providing a safe, stable, and inspiring place to learn.

Investing in improved classroom facilities and a dormitory will not only address immediate needs but also create lasting impact for generations to come. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings the school one step closer to achieving its mission of empowering young minds through education.
